A little historic town in the UK is urging the authorities to reopen an old train station to attract more tourists to its famous Roman heritage sites. Located on the east side of Newport, in South Wales, Caerleon is a small town known as a gem for history lovers.

Newport City Council has called for the town to be included in national plans to overhaul public transport by building a series of new stations along the South Wales Main Line.
Caerleon’s station closed to passengers in 1962 but the key infrastructure remains in place, said Cllr Stephen Cocks, who said the extremely high level of public support for the project “almost sounds like a North Korean election” result.

Residents of a village in Newport have come together to campaign for a railway, or train station to return to Caerleon.
With growing concerns over road congestion and air quality in Caerleon, campaigners from the TRACS, Transport for Caerleon Station, are determined to secure a new transport link that could benefit both residents and tourists.

CAERLEON residents have launched their campaign to restore a former railway station more than 60 years after passengers last boarded a train.
This Saturday, January 27, residents set about sketching a battle plan to bring rail services back to the town. Local Welsh Labour MS Ruth Jones and Welsh Conservative MS Natasha Asghar, shadow transport minister in the Senedd, have already thrown their weight behind the campaign.
